9 Tips to Awesome Modern Wedding Photography

All right ladies, you just hired a freaking awesome wedding photographer (me...ha..ha.. j/k) and your ready for face time with Mr. camera man. Hold up a sec..... I'm going let you in on a couple of tips that will help out your photographer while at the same time increase the chances of having awesome images.
  1. Make sure everyone is on the same game plan, rushing to fit shots in destroys creativity, something you don't want. This is why a planner is so important, even if you just have one the day of.... it'll help out so much and make things go a lot smoother. If the planner is a no go I have a wedding timeline that you can have.
  2. Please allot a certain amount of time either before the ceremony or after for formals, 45 minutes is more than enough. Also remember the more time your photographer has the most time he will be able to give you images your family and friend will swoon over.
  3. One word..... natural light. Well that's two words but you know what I mean. If you want crazy awesome formals and ceremony images, this is the most flattering light created. Same thing goes for getting ready shots, you just can't beat natural light. If at all possible have the whole weddings party get ready in rooms with windows. Trust me you'll thank me for this.
  4. Stagger times when the bridesmaids and the groomsmen are getting ready. This will make it easier for your photographer to get all the detail images needed. If you have 2 photographers, skip this tip....:)
  5. Create a timeline, I can tell you that 99% of the time something is going to go wrong. But it is good to have your photographer know when and what is suppose to happen at a certain time.
  6. Limit after wedding formals to immediate family (i.e. mother, father, sister, brother and grandparents). Remember this is your wedding, which would you rather have...... a banging image of you and your new hubby. Or a image of you and your 4th cousin who you had to fake knowing.
  7. Really, really consider a first look. If your tight on wedding coverage (6 hours) this is your best bet to get ample images of you and your future hubby. If that's not a option or you want to keep it traditional.... ask about a Day After Session. These are pretty much extended formals with just you and your husband. Very relaxed and laid back portrait session. What it all comes down to is you and the groom.... so I want to make sure you have more than enough images of one another.
  8. Stress the details..... details are what give character to your wedding. Let who you are shine through in your details.
  9. Last, but not least.... Have fun! This is your last day as a single woman. Attempt to do all the dances you don't know, make weird faces and just plain outright enjoy your big day. Trust me it will show on your face and in the images.
